An evening of impassioned music-making is bookended by Bach’s jubilant Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and a swirling waltz by Strauss. Britten’s Young Apollo and Janáček’s Violin Sonata evoke earthly feelings, while sublime choral settings by Bach intertwine with Kurtág’s miniature meditations. Short works by Schoenberg and Ligeti complete the emotional kaleidoscope.
