about

Stockholm’s sounding room for an interconnected world

The Queen Silvia Concert Hall, which opened in 2022, is the latest addition to Stockholm’s thriving music scene. Built on the premises of Lilla Akademien, Scandinavia’s leading specialist music school, the new chamber hall was designed by the renowned Italian architect Giorgio Palù, in partnership with the world-leading Japanese acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota.

With a maximum capacity of 300 people, the Queen Silvia Concert Hall possesses a vibrant yet intimate ambience that enhances connections between performers and listeners, and heightens the live experience. It is also an elegant and progressive multi-purpose space for musical encounters, equipped with facilities that place it at the cutting edge of inclusive cross-border artistic collaborations. As such, the hall is a hub for musical and educational exchanges that dissolve physical barriers, connecting O/Modernt and Lilla Akademien with a worldwide network of artists and arts organisations.

As curating partner and resident ensemble, O/Modernt eagerly embraces the abundant performance and educational opportunities that the Queen Silvia Concert Hall provides. With our signature commitment to bridging diverse musical traditions, O/Modernt helps to produce events that resonate with audiences from all walks of life, establishing the hall as a dynamic arena for cross-cultural dialogues. O/Modernt’s world-class reputation and extensive connections also aid international collaborations, affirming the Queen Silvia Concert Hall as one of Europe’s most creative and progressive artistic spaces.

Borders evaporate and improvisation builds bridges between works, creating a sensation of hovering free in the air: like birds.
