‘Everything O/Modernt is creation’

O/Modernt embraces the world of contemporary music collaborating with emerging and internationally established composers from all over the world. Over the last decade, O/Modernt has commissioned more than forty works, ranging from short solo works to fully-fledged cantatas and symphonic music.

Commissioning partners have included Manchester International Festival, Wigmore Hall, King’s Place London, British Museum, Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Kremerata Baltica, Sinfonietta Riga, Wimbledon International Festival, Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Holstebro International Music Festival to name a few.

To encourage young aspiring composers at an early stage in their careers, in 2019 O/Modernt inaugurated an annual Composition Award. The third edition in 2021 asks composers to reflect on the dialogue between nature and the city.
