Vlad Popescu, a Romanian violinist and professor, began his violin studies at the age of eight in Caransebeș. He graduated from the Music High School ‘Ion Vidu’ in Timișoara and continued his education in Graz, Berlin and Lübeck with notable instructors. As a dedicated chamber musician, he co-founded the Furiant Quartet, winning several international competitions and performing worldwide. Recently, he collaborated with artists including Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Bernhard Forck. Vlad has worked as a soloist with orchestras such as Camerata Bern and Norddeutsche Philharmonie. He leads the Eufonia Festival, promoting music education and cultural heritage in Romania, and directs the Pavilion project for children's music education. Since 2021 he has taught at the Faculty of Music and Theater in Timișoara and he was an associate professor in Rostock from 2022 to 2023. Vlad holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree (2024), focusing on the string quartets of György Kurtág and others. He plays a modern violin by Philippe Girardin.
