Mikael studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm 1987-91 with Sven-Erik Eriksson, Jan Andersson and Michael Lind.
After graduating he travelled to Chicago for further studies with Chicago Symphony performers Michael Mulcahy and Charlie Vernon as well as the legendary Arnold Jacobs.
In 1999 Mikael was appointed the job as principal trombone at the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Stockholm where he has played for nearly twenty years now under chiefconductors such as Esa Pekka Salonen, Manfred Honeck and Daniel Harding.

Mikael is also a highly regarded chamber music performer, soloist and pedagouge.
He has performed as soloist with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Stockholm Wind Band, Gothenburg Wind Band and the Swedish Army Wind Band among others.
As chamber musician Mikael has been playing with Stockholm Chamber Brass, Stockholm X-Brass and Chamber Orchestra of Europe to name a few.

Mikael has worked as a trombone teacher on a regular basis for the last twenty years and has his teaching base and pedagogic platform at the music academy Lilla Akademien in Stockholm. His passion for teaching is well known.
