Johan Stone is a British horn player predominantly working in Sweden. He was granted a full scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, graduating with a First-Class Honours BMus in 2022 and MA in 2023.

In 2022, he joined the Gävle Symphony Orchestra in Sweden, where he now plays as co-principal. He also performs around Sweden and the UK, guesting in orchestras such as Kungliga Hovkapellet, Kungliga Filharmonikerna, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, and the London Philharmonia.

He also frequently works as a chamber musician performing with ensembles such as the Nash Ensemble and Linnékvintetten. He was a founding member of the award-winning ensemble Lumas Winds, appearing on their debut album ‘The Naming of the Birds’ that was released in May 2024.

As an advocate of new music, Johan has also enjoyed collaborating with composers such as Gavin Higgins and Adam Melvin to create solo pieces for horn, and working with ensembles specialising in contemporary music, such as the Riot Ensemble and KammarensembleN.
